Clouds form in the sky as Shakur Kaka, an old tailor sits down to work. He hopes that rain will come soon. The grasslands are beginning to dry up. Saleem Mama has wandered off into the Grasslands looking for pasture for his cattle. Nature will take but it shall also return. Its reverence forms an integral part of the everyday lives of the Maaldharis. Nature has been both terribly harsh as well as extremely giving to this nomadic, cattle herding community of the Banni Grasslands. They recollect everything that they have lost over the years, as they patiently wait for the monsoon. Rain has many meanings for the Maaldharis. It would mean lush green grazing land for their cattle. It would mean the revival of the barren, cracked, desert land. But most of all, it is a reminder that nothing, not even adversity, can last forever. Change is right around the corner…
